Warren Farmhouse, Mansfield Woodhouse

These lovely photographs are of Warren Farmhouse as it is today. We would love find some  old photos of the farmhouse as it was in the past. Photographs that would help us restore any old features of the house and immediate grounds/gardens and outbuildings. Can anyone help or advise where we might find these?

Although we’ve always been known as Warren Farm, we know from some older records that the farm was once referred to as Warren Woodhouse Farm. We think perhaps that was when it was in the ownership of the Dukes of Portland  (it was built in 1433).  It has of course been owned or tenanted by a number of farming families through the centuries. In 1911  Thomas Newton and his family were here and  more recently the Blagg family.

  • My Gt grandfather and his family worked at Warren Farm for the Newton Family, they lived in one of the farm cottages that once stood near the river, my grandmother and her siblings walked along the flood dyke barefoot to go to the national school. I have a Facebook friend, Deb Newton who is also related to Thomas. I may have other things of interest too.
