Sherwood Hall Technical Grammer School for Boys

Sherwood Hall was my school from 1963 to 1969. I have in my possession three programmes for Gilbert & Sullivan operas which were performed by the school staff and boys. I think the events leading up to this posting make interesting reading. Recently, in October 2019, I took part in a private group back-stage visit to the Palace Theatre, Mansfield. As I stood on the stage looking out to the auditorium it brought back memories of when I performed as part of the Iolanthe opera in 1964.
The following day I was searching the Internet, as a long shot, to see if there were any photos of the production. I didn’t find any photos but I was amazed to see, on ebay, three programmes for the school’s Gilbert & Sullivan operas. These were:
– Ruddigore in 1961 (that year it was Sherwood Hall Boys’ School Mansfield).
– Patience in 1963.
– Iolanthe in 1964.
(The Theatre was known as the Civic Hall in those days).
The listing was to end in 6 days time. I was the only bidder and so I won the programmes.
I am sharing my scans of these, perhaps you were in one or more of the productions or you know someone who was?
