Does anyone know what this firm made and what this pot was intended to contain?

Well it certainly wears well if it’s an original, that’s for sure! Wonder if there are any more around locally or otherwise.

1880, Joseph Wright, Grocer, 31 Market Place, now Phone Corner Repair Centre. Around 1899 the business became Wright Bros, I assume his sons? Traded as Grocers and Seed Merchants until 1924 when they sold out to East Midland multiple grocers Marsdens. Joseph Wright also traded from 90 Clumber St for a time.

Don’t know of any past or present pottery firm bearing the name Wright Bros Mansfield. Are there any markings on the base of the item? If it is a past employer of whatever decade, we may hear from an ex employee who could solve the problem. The pot naturally would have had many uses ref contents etc, i.e., a general purpose design I suggest, liquid or solid. Unable to comment further, good luck with your quest.
