This interesting article has recently arrived with us………

“I went to Newgate Lane Primary from 66 till 69 , left when I was 9, with my 2 sisters younger than me, named Kerry and Tracey Leivers my name is Kim. We emigrated to Australia 🇦🇺 in 69, it was curiosity I googled my first school to see if there was any photos of Newgate to see what it looks like now. I remember Mr Coates saying farewell and wishing my family well with our big move to Oz he was very nice. I remember Whip and Tops, making ice slides in the playground and yes the sports carnivals! I received an award which was a book called Heidi signed by Mr Coates in 68 for Top Girl. We had school dinners at Lunch and the Nit Nurse would come around and check our hair. I remember my teachers, Mrs Froggat and Mrs Robinson also I think a Mrs Crompton. I also remember Phillip Slaney in my class ,you came to our house once on Newgate Lane near King St. We still live in Australia in NSW we went to Narrabeen Primary School. My sister Kerry and I went back for a holiday in 80 and 85 to see our Grandparents and Relations, so I’m overdue for a visit back. I have happy playground memories of Newgate Lane. Our parents Mary and Richard Leivers promised us kids when we moved to Australia we would live close to the beach, as was a huge change for us all. I love the Ocean and now volunteer in a Seaturtle and Seabird Hospital Kim Leivers ( Maiden).”
