Lotte Fischel -Mansfield General Hospital

Mansfield District General Hospital

Anna-Maria Engert a 17 year old student from Germany has been in contact with us. She is doing research on a former Jewish student called LOTTE FISCHEL (*14.05.1915) who visited her school in the 1930s.

She is aware that Lotte had to emigrate  to Mansfield, Nottingham because of the Nazis, and has already learnt that she worked as a nurse/midwife at Mansfield General Hospital, however she would like to discover more. Does anyone recognise the name of this nurse and can help with further information?

  • This is a long shot but this fits the description of the mother of a classmate of mine. I dont know if it is the same person so if you want to email me I can give you more information. However there were quite a few German refugees from the Nazis in Mansfield including children from the Kindertransport as well as refugees from Poland, Ukraine and later Hungary.

Editor’s comment. Anna Maria and Robert have now been in contact with each other and shared their information. Sadly the lady Robert remembers was not Lotte Fischel, however on comparison they found that both their stories followed very similar lines.
