These photographs were taken by Donald Hickling in 1952 when he worked on Clipstone headstocks. Note the open spaces, the prefabs and possibly Gwendolyn Grove Mother and baby Home on the third image.
The mother and baby home wasn’t always that, it started as the mine manager’s house, they generally had a house way and above the normal miners

Prefab type buildings in abundance in the top picture. There used to be many in and around Mansfield, some probably still survive. Good pictures and a long time since I went to the Ritz cinema not too far away, (back then in the mid / late fifties).
