Memories of Elsie Browns Folk House Brownies.

Westfield Folkhouse Brownies in the early fifties from Roger Brown.

One for the ladies, The Westfield Folk House Brownies in the early fifties.
Does this jog any memories for you. Are you in this photo or was any friend or relation in the brownies at this time? Mrs Elsie Brown (my mother) or Brown Owl as she was known in the brownies was involved with the Westfield Folk House Brownies for many years from the early forties. Does anyone have any memories or stories to share. My mum is at the back in the centre, and a few names that I can remember in no particular order are Janet Brown, Maureen Short, Margaret Jones, Maureen Bull, Paula Mason, Pamela Bridges, Maureen Leeson, Margarite Penford, and the other lady wearing a white shirt with a black tie is Thurza Millot or as she was known as Tawny Owl.

  • I loved going to Brownies Roger and remember your Mum, Brown Owl being a really good influence on us all! Can also remember seeing her riding around on her pushbike in all weathers! Could never quite understand why older people called her Elsie though, she was Brown Owl!!
Best regards, Barbara Brown formerly Starkey

  • Mrs Brown did great service for so many of us in her Brownie pack over many years. Very fond memories.

  • I remember Mrs Brown rode a pushbike for years around town. In the mid seventies our daughter, Nicola Adams, was a brownie in her group, lovely woman.
