Berry Hill Open-Air School 1st prize winners Mansfield Musical Festival. Possibly late 1940’s early 50’s. Can anyone identify the year or these budding musicians.

The teacher on the right is indeed Fred Smith. He was still there in the 60s when my mother, Jean Thomas, was teaching there. She used to get Fred to play suitable pieces of music for exercising to. She recorded his playing on a reel to reel tape recorder to play at her convenience. I have still got reel of Fred’s playing. He used to play background music at the Rufford Arms, whether for pleasure or extra earnings I couldn’t say!

I believe the gentleman on the right of the picture is a Mr Smith, school teacher.
