Mansfield Museum Summer Exhibition July 2012

Introduction by the Museum’s Display Organiser – Jodie Henshaw

The theme of this year’s Summer Exhibition is the Olympics. Although is  plenty of general information on the Games as a whole, we have  incorporated as much material as possible about local sporting clubs and organisations, from equipment and kit to trophies, photographs and news cuttings. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this display

Supporting the exhibition will be a host of sport and Olympic activities for both adults and children. Amongst the many opportunities to get involved will be physical demonstrations, international food tasting and ArtBeat’s simple craft sessions.

The exhibition was opened on Saturday 7 July at 10 am by Mansfield Olympian John Whetton.  John competed at both the Tokyo and Mexico City games in 1964 and 68, gaining 5th place in the 1500m in Mexico City.

The photographs taken by M & P Marples are just a selection of what is on display. See also Mansfield Museum Summer Exhibition 2012 – part 1 for more photos.
