This was a certificate won by my great great aunt Abigail Fareham in 1914 for an RSPCA essay about animal welfare. She was a pupil at Forest Town Council School and lived at 11, Fifth Avenue with her family. She would have been about twelve at the time. It is still framed, which makes photography difficult but I thought it may be of interest for Forest Town information.

I also include one of Abigail’s books which she was given in recognition of her regular attendance of the Primitive Methodist chapel in Forest Town in 1909.

  • Thank you for this additional information to Forest Town’s local history. I am always thrilled when things like this have survived and been treasured by family. Pauline
