During this period of the corona virus when we are being encouraged to think about the food we buy, some people are once again thinking about growing their own vegetables’. This photograph will no doubt bring back memories of many years ago when people were previously encouraged to this.
The photo first appeared in the Forest Town Crier Community Newspaper September 2001 when it was recalled that during the Second World War the sports field at Forest Town School was turned into a small allotment garden for the pupils. The rest of the field was ploughed up by Mr Gibson and planted with potatoes
