My parents built a house on Cauldwell Hill (as it was known) in the 1930’s . The road had been widened then, with a stone wall on the left and the sheep wash just below. Cauldwell Dam is on the right. With my brothers and sister we spent many happy hours sledging down the hill in 1947 when the road was closed for weeks. We had plenty of fun in the woods and during the war they were used for training dispatch riders. The house was eventually sold in 1995 and now a busy new road cuts across Cauldwell Hill destroying the peace and quiet we enjoyed in our childhood.
