Another mystery from the Museum’s Chad Negative Collection, one packet of negatives is marked Debdale, the other Forest Town. They are obviously the same event, possibly an autumn fair at a residential home or day care centre – but where?
My mother, Violet Cooper is in the centre of picture 1 & 3 (blue dress red hair). She was the matron of Daleside Residential home in the 80’s. Violet is about to celebrate her 85th birthday this May. She is still fit, walking the dog every day and loved by her family.

I’m almost certain this is Daleside Elderly Persons’ Home on Stuart Avenue in Forest Town. My Gran lived there for a while and the shutters behind the bearded man in the first picture are the residents’ bar….had a lager shandy or two from there on a Sunday night!

I didn’t really know it but Debdale Hall was used as a care home/nursing home and hospital step down facility for the elderly so the event in the pictures could have been held there.
