Sheepbridge Lane Steps.

Seeing the page with Alan Curtis’s sketch of the low railway bridge on Sheepbridge Lane prompted me to take these two photos on my latest cycle ride (Sun 17th Feb). I’m sure Alan and many of my contemporaries will remember the steps up to Cinderellas Walk from when they were kids they are still the same except the treads have been replaced with brick, the original ones were stone and very worn, infact they were worn so badly that the centre of each step was worn almost down to the one below it, very slippery when it rained.

I thought I would photograph the railway bridge from the opposite side to Alans sketch, it’s still the same down there as it was 60 years ago when I was a kid, the only difference is the traffic, even though it was Sunday it wasn’t easy to get a picture without any cars.
