  • Firstly, I can’t believe this post has only one comment. Stags’ victory at the mecca of English football deserves better surely?
A great cup side over the years, this might have been the “lower” league sides competition, but a thrilling finale for Stags efforts it was. I can vaguely remember the semi finals against Chester, our minibus received a large rock through a window, barely missing the head of the lad sat there.
The interaction between Stags and Bristol fans was superb, it was refreshingly relaxed and friendly. We were sharing a bottle of whisky with ’em before kick off.
Memories of the match itself, 1 all draw, Stringy hitting the bar, David Moyes, Keith Curle in opposition, Hitchcock saves in the shootout, Kenworthy’s winner, golden!

  • They were heady days were they not. Use to go to watch the Stags at all thier home games when I lived in my home town of Mansfield in the 50-60s. Full houses often some wonderful results, Stags 3 West Ham 0. Yes I was at Wembly, fab day great result. It hurts to see the gates of today, won’t improve until in 1st division.YO8C4
