Landers Sweep The Board

Landers Sweep The Board – This was the headline in a newspaper ‘Midweek Extra’ 2nd October 1979. The report went on to say

‘Production and sales staff of Landers Red Seal Ltd., Mansfield – some of whom are pictured here – swept the board in a national competition organised by Rank Hovis Mcdougall, Flour Division. Prizes to the winners were presented at a lunch in the Inter-Continental Hotel London.

The competition, an annual one is separated into five regional areas with the aim to finding the top shop and supervisor in each area. There is also a contest covering the country to find the top sales manager.

This year Landers took all three awards for the Midlands Region which includes Birmingham, Bradford and Manchester.

The top shop in the region is Landers Ilkeston branch under manageress Mrs Renee Annable. The top supervisor in the region is Mr Jim Cairns, Mansfield, and the top sales Manager is Mr Graham Mealyer of Landers Mansfield.

“I would like to pay full tribute to the staff who pulled out all the stops to get the best sales figures for Mansfield. To say we are all very pleased with the win is an understatement,” Mr Mealyer told Midweek extra.’
