Darts Team Presentation

I have these Photos of what I believe is of a Darts Trophy presentation, My Dad Clarence Stevens is the one recieving the Trophy. I have a feeling that it is a Landers Bakery Darts team but it could be a Black Bull Team. I don’t know any one in the photo’s other than my father but I have a feeling that the gentleman stood to the right of my Dad is Tom Smith and I think he was the Garage Forman at Landers. The date of the Photo’s, well I would say it is after 1955 and before January 1963.

  • Photo dates about right, Tom Smith was also my manager, (Transport Manager), and sadly informed me of the passing of Mr C. Stevens all those years ago. I left Landers in August / September of ’63. Tom was still there in the same capacity when I left the Company. The only one I recognize on the pic is in fact Clarence. Never forgotten.

  • Alan You mention the landlord of the Black Bull as Keith Berry? I think his name was Bob Berry?

  • The pictures above contain nine of the old Lander’s Salesmen…The picture would have been taken about 1958.

  • I can see where the confusion is as to whether the darts presentation photograph is Landers or The Black Bull public house.. Quite simply that Landers darts team, played their home matches at the Black Bull at the bottom of Oxford St…The landlord was Keith Berry, the ex – Lancashire and England cricketer, helped of course with his wife Eileen. Once when the Lancashire Cricket team were playing Derbyshire at Chesterfield, the whole team came to play the Landers darts team,at darts,in the Black Bull…I well remember that I played Barry Wood…Great night !!!!

  • Peter. Thanks for showing the photographs, I do believe that I am the only one left from the pictures. Your father ” Clarry ” as he was known then, did take over from Tom Smith, when Tom himself became ill. When your father passed away, someone with contacts at Head Office, took over. I can see him now.. but cannot bring his name to mind. I do believe he finished up going to Head Office at Manchester. Best Wishes, Alan
