REDGATE SCHOOL PANCAKE DAY

It would seem that the pancake race at the school was an annual event over the years 1976 – 1981, and maybe other years that we do not have photographs of.

(The order of photgraphs, captions, or words, do not relate to the original event)

February 1976

This year (and others) the Mayor and Mayoress supported and participated in the event.

It was obviously enjoy by those who took part, or just watched the fun.

There is a much larger collection of photographs for 1980 which gives more insight into the atmosphere and fun at these events.

Comments about this page

  • Redgate School was a brilliant school. I was a member of the staff and featured in the pictures complete with straw boater and pigtails. Pancake day was all about building a concept of time and season. We celebrated everything on the calendar. Ann and I became experts at producing birthday cakes usually based on several large chocolate cakes and butter icing.
Ron and Shirley are featured, they worked at Mansfield General Hospital and were key members of the Hospital Pantomime Group and raised funds for the school, as well as supporting my work developing music festivals.
Brilliant days remembered with great fondness.
