Forest Town Community Garden

A planting session organised by Forest Town Youth Steering Group took place on Saturday 8th May 2010 at Forest Town Community Gardens at Kingsway Hall.  Plants and shrubs were planted by members of Forest Town Youth Club.

A grant was made available from Mansfield Area Strategic Partnership (MASP) from their ‘Choosing Health Funding’ and the Mansfield Woodhouse branch of B & Q generously donated tools and plants.  Roses were also donated by Mr Syd Owen.

Refreshments were provided by the Methodist Trinity Community Café on the day which was quite cold and wet.  At least the plants didn’t need too much watering in.

The summer of 2010 was particularly hot and dry for long periods and unfortunately some of the heathers died, but they were soon replaced with others from funding that was left over.

Currently the Garden is being maintained by a small group of volunteers but more help is always needed as gardens never stand still.
