I remember this day very clearly as we were on Carr Bank Park as it started to rain. We dashed for shelter and l had never seen rain like it. It churned up the new road as it was then that went past the Metal Box. I now live in the tropics so see rain like this in the monsoon season but in Mansfield, never!

My father Brian managed the butchers shop until he retired in December 1992.The man pictured outside Cuddys was the barbers owner, a man I knew as Nev.

I remember this well! My grandfather was still alive, Bill Hardy potato merchant and grocer of 119 Broxtowe Drive – died the winter of ’73. He used to drive passed there a lot often droppping at the Barbers which is next to the butcher’s just in the left of the picture.
