Clipstone

These photographs are among some I have inherited from the late Derick Johnson of Forest Town. They are early views and may have been taken from Clipstone Colliery tip.

Today it is only the brick built houses and old Co-op shop that still remain and can be recognised on the photos.

Can anyone give more information or perhaps suggest a date the pictures were taken?

While it is unknown if Derick took the photographs himself, they are an important record of what the Clipstone area once looked like.

  • The photo of the co-op and council houses was probably taken about 1950.I lived there from when they were first built and my mother still lives there.
