The Chad newspaper negatives contain a wealth of history about the Town and surrounding area. In 1983 a Chad photographer paid a visit to Mansfield Brewery and captured some of the staff at work.

Derek Gilford is my dad with Gordon Jervis using the spirit level, attention to detail.
There is a tunnel that runs under Great Central Rd which ran from one side of the brewery to the other part of the brewery across the road.
Apparently the brewery used fresh water from the well, hence why Mansfield beer was the best.
Hi Paul Cartwright,
Gordon Jervis was my dad, it would be lovely to hear your memories of him.
And of course anyone else that knew him.
I remember a lot of these people in the photos.
Picture right hand side, row 10, shows lorry drivers all stood by side of tanker lorry. My dad is stood on far left (Lawrence Worrall, nickname ‘Lol’) he’s looking at Les Yates who is stood next to Alf Tattage? or something like that.
Lol was taken off lorries in around 1984 following a heart attack. He returned to work driving the Mini vans on tank cleaning in the pubs prior to the tankers delivering beer. Sadly he had to retire in 1989 due to ill health, and he died in 1991.
Pete Witham, Manager of the Order Office.
Ted Taylor (dramatic) – Manager of Credit Control.
Finance Department. Alec Welham – Financial Controller (left), Ted Taylor (roses) on right and Pat Duckmanton.
Estates office (at this time was based at Dame Flogan Street). Bill and Alice Donbavand on left, Anne Bend and Arthur Tomlinson.
Managed Houses.
Brewery offices c. 1984 on corner of Weighbridge Road and Littleworth. Construction of new brewhouse in background.
Left – Sue Walters (Secretary to Finance Director – Ron Kirk).
Right – Wendy Fell (Secretary to Managing Director) – John Hings
Seated – Mavis Leverton (Secretary to Personnel Director) – Richard Chad burn
Last of the electronic typewriters just before they were replaced with a Honeywell DPS4 computer.
Madge Branfield. Receptionist. Photo at offices on Weighbridge Road.
the person on the right is Gordon jervis, I worked with him at the brewery, a very good friend of mine.
Can anyone remember the Mansfield Brewery passport run in the 80s?
The man on the right was the foreman in charge of the Brewery fitters shop. I worked under him during the year of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, 1977.
