I used to go Forest Town with my Nan Frances Wright and we went to visit Nellie and Harry Chapman, then we would go to the field where the Welfare Club opposite the church on the top main road. At BANK HOLIDAYS, you would get marching band from all over the place to compete in competitions, it would take all day, bands like Ilkeston Middys, Long Eaton Torriadors, cannot remember any more was a good day out.
