Hospital Scout Troop

Harlow Wood Orthopaedic Hospital

The Scout Troop at Harlow Wood Hospital is understood to have been formed around 1931.The Scout Leader was Ron Briggs from Sutton-in-Ashfield

In 1946/7 Frank Meridith of Warsop is recalled as the Scout Leader.  

"Mr Frank Meredith of Warsop used to cycle every week to take us on Ward One for Scouts, after he had been to work all day. Obviously like the work Miss Bestwick (teacher) did, we didn't appreciate it at the time, now we realise what kind people they were. A Cousins - former patient.

The Scout Leader's name should read Mr. Frank Meredith. My friend, Roger Marriott has a photo. of the Scouts in their beds at the time of the last photo. when Lord Rowallen, Chief Scout came to the hospital to present a Cornwall Scout Award.

The spelling of Meredith now is corrected, thank you for pointing this out. Maybe your friend would like to add a page with the photograph you mention and add a few words. We are sure this would be of interest to other people.

Does anyone know if Frank Meredith is in any of the pictures I would like to know what he looked like and also if anyone has any other pictures of Frank Meredith. Many thanks Kim .
