Sherwood Women's Cooperative Guild

Sherwood Women's Guild
Chad

I have just returned from a visit to Mansfield for my brothers birthday. On Saturday night we went to eat at The Mint Indian Restaurant on Clerkson Street, Mansfield. Immediately I saw the building I was convinced it was where our mum used to attend the Guild meetings. My brother didn’t think it was the right place.

So of course I have come home to Manchester and started searching through all the newspaper cuttings that my mum saved and have found this photo of the Sherwood Women’s Cooperative Guild celebrating their first anniversary at Clerkson Street Hall.

I wonder if someone can confirm that they are one and the same place. My mum was a member of the Guild for many years and made many very good friends. They all kept in touch and several of these friends came to my mums funeral in 2009.

My mum, Betty Featherstone, is pictured second from the right holding my brother John in her arms. I am second from the left with a sash on my dress and a wonky fringe! ( mum’s handiwork!).
