Salvation Army 23rd Mansfield Wolf Cub Pack

Having read the memories and comments under the heading of Moor Street, I am prompted to submit two photographs of my Wolf Cub Pack belonging to The Salvation Army on Victoria Street which is at the junction with Princes Street and Moor Street circa 1955/57.  These lads were a great bunch and we had lots of fun.  Many I think lived in the area but I can’t recollect the names.  We often had activities on the land at the top of Princes Street near the railway, and we went tracking in Thieves Wood, Newstead Abbey and on the banks of the River Maun on Quarry Lane.  I was Cubmistress (Akela), and I had two assistants Iris and Audrey who can be seen in the larger photograph.  I can’t for the life of me remember their pack names !!  The first photograph is taken outside the small wooden hall where we held our meetings, and the second one is of the Gang Show we put on inside the Salvation Army.  I’ve got a feeling that with all of us having our arms folded, we were actually singing the well known scout gang show song “We’re riding along on the crest of a wave”.  Ahhh… great memories, I’d love to think that perhaps one or two of my cubs might see the photographs.  I guess they will be in their 60s or 70s now.!
