Restoration of a Ferguson TEF 20 Tractor

I have completed the restoration on my Ferguson TEF 20 Tractor formally owned by Mansfield Borough Council.

The tractor was first registered PVO 186 in May of 1954 to Mansfield Corporation Parks and Cemeteries Department Carr Bank, Mansfield, Notts.

It arrived in Ireland in 1968 and continued its working life on a small farm in the Burren region of County Clare. This is how I would think this tractor may have looked back in 1954.

  • Now this really is a sight to see,I love to see vintage machinery, and as both a tractor and JCB driver since before 18yoa, I appreciate the trouble some take to look after their plant. The borough of Mansfield I believe came about in 1974,with the amalgamation of the urban district councils,Warsop,Woodhouse etc and the rest,to join up with the borough of Mansfield. Thus came a district council.these little machines were often the mainstay of the small crofts and holdings they worked, were often the transport of the farmer into the nearest town, and so much more, because alongside this type of Fergie-was pioneered “The Ferguson system” of three furrow ploughs, and other labour saving attachments that the smallholder or farmer could utilise to make life on the land a little easier. This small polished little machine represented a revolution in postwar agriculture more than is often realised.Well done to the restorer.
