On the 30th June 2015 a journey from Holt to Sherringham on the North Norfolk Railway, (also known as the ‘Poppy Line), was a pleasurable event, and the discovery of this plaque on a seat at Sherringham Station was nice to read.
Lovely part of the world, know it well, interesting little rail trip into Holt and return. The seat looks new or refurbished as of 4.5 years ago as does the commemorative plaque, pity it is undated. The gentleman is / was probably well known in the Warsop / Mansfield area of Notts, he was obviously a Norfolk fan as well as a steam enthusiast.
